During Mussolini’s fascist regime, the term Malacarne was a derogative assigned mostly to women who did not conform to the fascist ideal of the exemplary wife and mother. Whose conduct, exuberance, or emotions threatened the ideologies upon which fascist power resides. Women whose physical body was determined inadequate to uphold fascist assertions of Italian biological superiority. These Malacarne were institutionalized by the state and often placed in solitary confinement. We are MALACARNE.
